The challenge of relevance in your immediate community is one that every church battles against. Bendigo Adventist Church is taking a hands-on approach to this issue through the avenue of healthy living. On December 7, we held our first community health event. The program titled “Kick-start to Health – Heart Health” was the first of several community health programs where a healthcare professional is invited to present a short presentation on their particular specialty.
This first program was presented to about 50 people, the majority of whom were invited to attend by members of our church community. The program included a three-course vegetarian meal, which was catered in-house by the deaconess team, and a 35-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session. Each attendee received a gift bag containing the meal's recipes and a modernised copy of Steps to Christ.
The evening turned out to be a great success, with invited guests consisting of a wide cross-section of the community. We are looking forward to continuing in the new year, with the potential to grow the size of the program and its influence in our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this evening so successful.
